About Ruth Migler

Bilingual in English and Spanish, I completed psychoanalytic training at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. I believe that a therapist never stops learning and growing, and previously completed two other post graduate training programs in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and in Infant Observation. Before dedicating myself to private practice, I worked as a clinician and then Director of Supervision and Training at the Lourie Center for Children’s Social and Emotional Wellness. I have an MSW from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and an MA in Child Development from Tufts University.

My affiliations include the the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, the Clinical Social Work Association, the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work and I attend several conferences per year.

Philosophy

I practice psychodynamic psychotherapy which is an evidence based treatment.  Getting to Know Me, provides a lovely account that compares Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Progress in therapy is stronger and longer lasting over time, and requires patience, commitment and a strong therapeutic relationship.  This is achieved by meeting 1 -3 times per week.

Insurance and Payment

I am considered an out of network provider. Services may be covered in part by your health insurance and in full by your flexible spending account. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Does my insurance cover out of network providers?

Payment: Cash, check and all major credit cards accepted for payment. I have a limited number of reduced fee hours for patients with financial necessity. Don’t be afraid to ask.

Cancellation Policy: If you are unable to keep your scheduled therapy appointment, please be sure to give me 48 hours notice. If you do not cancel within this allotted time, you can reschedule within the week or be responsible for the full cost of the session.
